One of the major adjustments I had to handle this year was for five months not being able to count on our invaluable housekeeper. Due to her maternity leave and vacations, my house and its five animals (three cats, a dog and a husband) were forsaken!
So, for those who work more than 40 hours per week, this scenario indicated total chaos. In order not to get stressed, I continued sewing so I wouldn’t worry about the mess.
I just survived all this time and I’m here to tell this story for two reasons: my sewing adventures and the guardian angel that I hired to take care of the house once a week. She passed like a hurricane, cleaning everything and everyone – we could smell disinfectant everywhere!
As she was very helpful and never let me down, I thought I could show my gratitude with a gift. I sewed her a very simple bag, small for her to come to work. I used jeans, a plaid fabric and decorated with a yo-yo flower.
Upon receiving the gift, she surprised me by saying she would use the bag to carry the Bible, since she is very religious. I took it as a compliment, and I also understand that its use would be very significant for our cleaner-hurricane!
Uma das grandes adaptações pelas quais passei este ano foi por cinco meses não poder contar com a ajuda inestimável de minha empregada doméstica . Devido sua licença maternidade e férias, minha casa e seus cinco bichos (três gatos, um cachorro e um marido) ficaram jogados as traças!
Então, para quem trabalha mais de 50 horas por semana, este cenário indicava caos total. Para não me estressar, continuei costurando para me preocupar menos com a bagunça.
Só sobrevivi este tempo todo e estou aqui para contar essa história por duas razões: minhas aventuras em patchwork e o anjo da guarda que contratei para dar uma geral na casa uma vez por semana. Ela passava como um furacão, limpando a tudo e a todos – era um cheiro de desinfetante por todo lugar!
Como ela foi muito prestativa e nunca me deixou na mão, achei que poderia demonstrar minha gratidão com um presente. Costurei uma bolsa bem simples, pequena, para ela vir ao trabalho. Utilizei jeans, um tecido xadrez e a decorei com uma flor de fuxico.
Ao receber o presente, ela me surpreendeu dizendo que usaria a bolsa para carregar a bíblia, já que é bastante religiosa. Considerei aquilo como um elogio, e entendi também que seu uso seria bastante significativo para nossa faxineira-furacão!
