One of these days me and other two colleagues went to work wearing purple sweaters. It looked like we had them made to be matching! The three of us could form a singing trio…

So when I decided to make a gift for one of them I was certain that it had to be something purple. Because she dresses very sober I made her a very delicate pin with a different type of yoyo flower.

Although it is very fashionable to wear flowers nowadays she never tried it on. Unfortunately you can’t always get it right

Um dia desses eu e outras duas colegas fomos trabalhar vestindo blusas roxas. Parecia que tinhamos combinado de propósito! Como se nós três fossemos um trio musical…

Então, quando eu decidi fazer um presente para uma delas eu tinha certeza que tinha que ser algo roxo. Porque ela se veste muita sóbria eu fiz broche muito delicado, com um tipo diferente de flor de fuxico.

Embora atualmente esteja muito na moda vestir flores ela nunca o experimentou. Infelizmente não é possível acertar sempre : (

After the success of the roses surprise , another friend demanded something similar for her birthday.

She said she wanted exactly the same gift, including the color. But because I do not like to repeat projects and prefer to try something new, I decided to make another type of lilac flower.

In addition to innovation in the type of flower, I also chose to use a larger vase and made the flowers more elongated. Now, wherever I  am I always pay attention in the flower vases. There are many variations to try and more friends to please

Depois do sucesso da surpresa de rosas, fui intimada a fazer algo similar para o aniversário de outra amiga.

Ela disse que queria exatamente igual, inclusive da mesma cor. Mas como não gosto de repetir os projetos e prefiro experimentar algo novo, decidi fazer outro tipo de flor lilás.

Além de inovar no tipo de flor, optei também por usar um vaso maior e fazer as flores mais alongadas. Agora onde vou sempre presto atenção nos vasos de flores. Existem ainda muitas variações para experimentar e mais amigas para agradar

Some magazines indicate that fabric flowers will be a big fashion hit of the upcoming spring-summer.

In fact, the yoyo flowers began to appear in the catalog of large department stores, in cloths and accessories in general. So, to seize the moment, I decided to make some for me as a test, before making them for friends.

I made a simple flower, composed of three layers of red fabric. The tiara can also be replaced by a safety pin, transforming the flower into a modern brooch.

 The worst is that, because of the ornament, my colleagues who are less attuned with fashion trends have called me a “prenda” (a kind of hillbilly of the state I live in). It was not at all complimentary, but it didn’t kept me from being a success with my exclusively accessories.

Algumas revistas indicam que as flores de tecido devem ser a grande novidade da moda primavera-verão.  De fato, as flores de fuxico começaram a aparecer no catálogo de grandes lojas de departamentos, em diferentes em roupas e assessórios em geral. Então, para aproveitar o momento, resolvi testar primeiro comigo, antes de presentear as amigas.

Fiz uma flor bem simples, composta por três camadas de tecidos vermelhos.  A tiara pode ainda ser substituída por uma “joaninha”, transformando a flor em um broche moderno.

O pior é que, por causa do enfeite,  meus colegas menos antenados nas tendências da moda me chamaram de “prenda” (uma espécie de caipira, aqui do Estado onde moro). Isso não foi nada elogioso, mas não me impediu de fazer o maior sucesso com meu acessório exclusivo.

It’s remarkable that I enjoy to widely vary my work. Once mastered the technique/model I usually search for something new. Therefore, I have a greater variety of options to choose from when I have to do make a gift.

One of these days I was invited to a surprise party for a friend whom I recently known, but quickly captivated me with her sweet and soft “mineiro” accent.

For some time I wanted to “try” yo-yo roses, and this was an excellent chance for me to do something gentle for my friend. The step-by-step is easy, but is much more difficult than I imagined! When I was binding the leaves with the rose I got burned by the hot glue

At least my gift was at the same level of the mineros’ crafts she likes so much! At the point that my long time friends became jealous and asked one like this…

É notavel que gosto de variar bastante meus trabalhos. Uma vez dominada a técnica/modelo já parto em busca de outro diferente. Desta forma, tenho uma variedade maior de opções para escolher quando tiver de fazer um presente.

Dias desses fui convidada para a festa surpresa de uma amiga que conheço a pouco tempo, mas que rapidamente me cativou com seu sotaque mineiro doce e meigo.

Já há algum tempo eu queria “experimentar” rosas de fuxico, e essa era uma ótima chance de fazer algo delicado  para minha amiga.  O passo-a-passo é fácil, mas é bem mais trabalhoso do que eu imaginava! No momento em que fixava as rosas às folhas, acabei queimando o polegar com cola quente

Pelo menos meu presente ficou a altura dos mimos mineiros que ela tanto! A ponto das amigas mais antigas ficarem com ciúmes e pedirem um presente parecido…

After 4 years I finally finished furnishing my house. To celebrate this moment and to decorate the bathrooms I made some yoyo flowers and built a fabric garden using  pottery vases, flower foam and wood sticks (here in Brazil, commonly used as barbecue sticks sold on many streets).

One kind of flower is basically a big yoyo filled with synthetic fiber and thread wrinkles.

The bigger flowers were made with 10 yoyos (5 filled with synthetic fiber and 5 just sewed one to the other). I’ve also used a yellow yoyo as the flower head. With the pottery vases and the flower foam – which was not the best option because it is not very firm – I made the flower base.

As a special touch, I pour some lavender essence in the floral foam to leave a pleasant aroma.

Now I have a garden in each bathroom with two advantages over the traditional flowers: they do not require water or natural light!

Depois de 4 anos, finalmente consegui terminar de mobiliar minha casa. Para comemorar este novo momento e para enfeitar os banheiros, fiz algumas flores de fuxico e construi um jardim de tecido usando  vasos de cerâmica, espuma floral e palitos para churrasquinho de gato – aqui no Brasil, é bem comum venderem nas ruas carne assada nesses espetos improvisados.

Um dos tipos de flor é basicamente um grande fuxico recheado com fibra sintética e gomos amarrados. As flores maiores.Com os vasos e a espuma floral – que é bem difícil de manipular, porque não fixa direito – montei a estrutura das novas flores.

Para dar um toque especial, coloquei uma essência de alfazema na espuma floral para deixar um aroma agradável.

Agora tenho um jardim em cada banheiro com duas vantagens sobre as flores tradicionais: essas não necessitam de água nem luz natural!
