One of the people who helped me in one of the most difficult times of the year was my dear neighbor. I’ve told this case some posts ago – when my youngest kitten almost died and my friend was always by my side for advice and support.

To thank such dedication, I decided to make her a gift. Although she is a veterinarian she never accepted a my payment for her consults while we were trying to figure out what Juca had – I even appealed to her husband, but nothing … Then, the solution was to make her something simple, yet representative of my gratitude.

 She had recently redecorated her kitchen – she did a very nice job giving a more rustic touch to the house – and always praised my sewing adventures, even those initial and full of defects. So I asked her to pick something that she would like me to make her, and the request was a chicken.

 The problem is that the chicken had to turn into a rooster – my best patterns were of roosters, I had no nice chicken. I had some problems in execution – I should have put millet or sand on the base for the doll to be firmer and the cast was not extended to the extent that it should – but I still think it was worth the effort.

 Anyway, my friend received the gift with joy and let me choose the place to put it. In fact, she even gave him a name: Rocky Rooster, as the Mel Gibson’s handsome leader of Chicken Run.

Uma das pessoas que mais me ajudaram em um dos momentos mais difíceis do ano foi minha vizinha. Já contei a história posts atrás – foi quando meu gatinho mais novo quase morreu, e ela sempre esteve ao meu lado, dando conselhos e apoio incondicionais.

Para agradecer a tanta dedicação, resolvi dar-lhe um presente. Apesar de ser médica veterinária, nunca aceitou que eu pagasse pelas consultas que deu enquanto estávamos tentando descobrir o que o Juca tinha – apelei inclusive ao marido dela, mas nada… Então, a saída foi dar algo singelo, mas significativo da minha gratidão.

Ela recém tinha redecorado a cozinha – num trabalho muito bacana, que deu um toque mais rústico à casa – e sempre elogiou os trabalhos que eu fazia, mesmo aqueles iniciais e cheios de defeitos. Num dia desses, pedi a ela que escolhesse algo para ganhar, e a sugestão foi que eu fizesse uma galinha para decorar a cozinha nova.

O problema é que a galinha teve de virar galo – meus melhores moldes eram de galos, e não tinha nenhum legal de galinha. Tive alguns problemas na execução – deveria ter colocado painço ou areia na base para o boneco ficasse mais firme, e o molde não foi ampliado na proporção que deveria -, mas, ainda assim, acho que valeu o esforço.

De qualquer modo, minha amiga recebeu o presente com alegria e deixou que eu escolhesse o lugar onde o galo ficaria. Aliás, ele ganhou um nome: Rocky Rooster, como o líder bonitão de Fuga das Galinhas.

Thanks to our beloved friend and neighbor Dra. Alexandra Fantinatti, how is a very experienced veterinarian oncologist, and the heavenly clinic of Dra. Simone Wolffenbüttel he was brought back from the dead with a blood transfusion from his big brother Guga.

It might be to soon to celebrate his recovery because even though he got a negative test result, we are still being hunted by the terror of FeLV or FIV virus, also known as the feline AIDS.

That’s why we’ll keep taking him regularly to the Chatterie Center for Cats Health where Dra. Rochana Rodrigues can use the latest treatment for this feline plague.

Quase perdemos o Juca, meu gatinho mais novo, apenas três semanas depois de ter feito esta versão de pano dele para sua maior fã, Amanda – minha afilhada.

Graças a nossa querida amiga e vizinha  Dra. Alexandra Fantinatti, que é uma oncologista  veterinária muito experiente, e a clínica da Dra. Simone Wolffenbüttel que caiu do céu, ele foi trazido de volta dos mortos com uma transfusão de sangue de seu irmão mais velho, Guga.

Talvez seja muito cedo para comemorar sua recuperação porque, mesmo tendo o teste com resultado negativo, ainda somos assombrados pelo terror do vírus da FeLV ou  FIV, também conhecido como AIDS felina.

Por isso, nos vamos continuar levando o Juca regurlarmente para Chatterie Centro de Saúde do Gato onde a Dra. Rochana Rodrigues pode usar o tratamento mais moderno para esta praga felina.
